Antique brick 18-19th century

If you were thinking about buying an antique hand-molded brick to create an interior or cladding, but you want to emphasize your status with a certain spirituality of the project, then we can safely assure you that there is nothing better than using real old imperial brick before 1917 in the interior-exterior! Now we will explain why. It's simple, when creating a modern hand-molded brick, the same method is used as a hundred years ago. Previously, a molder (a person who threw a piece of clay into the mold), now this principle is given over to machines. This is the first very interesting point - real old brick of the 18-19th centuries is a hand-molded material (hand-made).

The next important point is that the old brick was created during the period when the kings were on the throne, so the old brick can be safely called "royal brick" at that time its GOST was laid, thanks to this GOST, the old brick has survived to the present day. And this is only part of the features, but based on them we can safely say that the old brick of the 18-19th century can give your interior design uniqueness.

Antique brick with a stamp

An old brick with a stamp is not just a brick with a stamp, but a brick with a quality guarantee, and this guarantee has been tested for more than a hundred years.
Even today, these factories that put the family stamp on the bricks of the 19th century no longer exist. But the spirit of that era still lives in them.

Since the old brick was produced by hand in manufactories, there is simply no other like it. Thanks to this small but very important feature, we can confidently assure you that the old brick will look great when used to create loft interiors, as well as fireplaces, cladding or simply to restore old walls. Often, it is worth just combining modern materials with 19th century brick.

кирпич с клеймом

A true connoisseur of antique materials will most likely be inclined to buy original materials rather than modern analogues, even if they have a good imitation. Modern material can be compared with old brick, but this is only if you have not compared real antique brick and imported analogues for old brick. After all, such a new brick will not be able to convey the entire range of color, chips, texture, which only time can perfectly apply.

Of course, the value of such material, whether artistic or architectural, of a real old brick with the manufacturer's stamp, can be described endlessly, but it is worth noting one important detail - it meets the physical requirements and quality that are presented to modern bricks.

In the 18th century, manufacturers were ordered to brand their bricks to identify defective ones. Thus, the brand became a kind of quality mark. And a little later, an even more valuable one appeared - a personalized brick. Craftsmen created a personalized brand, immortalizing the names of their owners on the facade of factories and manufactories. All our bricks began to be produced by the Petrovskaya Manufactory.

Each stamp is a proof of the noble origin of the ancient brick and its "pedigree". Touching such a stamp, you touch History.

- it has good strength, as well as high resistance to ultraviolet rays and aggressive environments
- the thickness of our tiles, due to our production base in Moscow and St. Petersburg, is only 1 cm

Due to the fact that our company has extensive experience in our sector and the presence of sawing shops in Moscow and St. Petersburg and other cities, we cut tiles 10 mm thick, with such dimensions it is much more convenient to transport and use for cladding facades or for creating old walls.

Our working gallery

Here you will see working moments of brickwork restoration and other production processes. Brickwork restoration is not a simple process. For the work, experienced restorers use real hand-molded bricks, which were made in the old days. If you follow a consistent technology and use high-quality materials, then the work on restoring brick walls will be performed at a high level. Brickwork will look updated and fresh, but will not lose its historical value. The hand-molded bricks we offer for purchase were made by hand, hence the name. The bricks were shaped by workers (molders). Such bricks can be used both for the restoration of old walls and for interior decoration under the brick. If you were looking for antique bricks, then the option we offer is the most profitable, do not forget that modern aged bricks are smaller in size than they were made in the old days. Our studio of antique bricks offers to look at a photo gallery of various work processes.

Comparison of our clinker tiles with imitation

Ceramic clinker tiles and their imitations are two popular choices for interior and exterior finishing. Despite their similar appearance, they differ significantly in their characteristics and properties. In this text, we will look at the key differences between ceramic clinker tiles and their imitations to help you make an informed choice for your project. Find out which of these options will best suit your needs and preferences.

Tiles imitating old brick Izhora on a concrete base

Tiles imitating brickwork are mainly made from concrete and gypsum; for comparison, we will only consider tiles on a cement-sand base.

- The dye (pigment) burns out

Concrete tiles are painted with paint that changes its color over time due to direct sunlight. The color may also change dramatically during operational cleaning from contaminants with detergents.

- Low wear resistance

After a couple of years of operation, the question of cleaning the facade or interior will arise. The facade is usually washed with water under high pressure - this will lead to peeling of the paint, and no chemical liquids can be used for wet cleaning of the walls in the apartment.

- Repeatability of marks

As a rule, a cast is taken from 1-2 branded bricks from the last century.

+ Price

The production of tiles is not very labor-intensive, the cost of raw materials is also not high. Therefore, its price is not high.

- Limited texture, frequent repetition of elements

The tiles are made by taking casts from ancient bricks of the old type. The frequency of repetition depends on the amount of brick used.

- Not all types of elements

Not all manufacturers of Izhora brick tiles make a butt and corner.

- Compound

The composition of the tile is cement-sand mortar + paint. All these "ingredients" are man-made with their own warranty service life. As a rule, after the warranty period expires, any product becomes unusable and requires replacement (repair).

- Bright and uniform color

Indoors, such tiles give a slight shine. Manufacturers strive to make tiles natural, so they make inserts of dark brick, which, in their opinion, should give the effect of burnt brick. But as a rule, the result is only worse and such tiles look like black spots.

- For interior decoration only

Brick tiles in an apartment are not exposed to acid rain and other aggressive environmental influences.

To sum up the above arguments, I would like to point out the fact that on our website you will not find photos where forgery occurs. In particular, many dishonest manufacturers of decorative tiles use photos where real historical bricks of the tsarist era are depicted . They also photograph the finished result intentionally in subdued light, this is done to hide the shortcomings of the color palette and the repetition of elements.

The choice between these materials depends on your specific interior design needs and preferences.

Tiles imitating old bricks from the tsarist era

Our tiles are made by cutting royal bricks into decorative tiles. Imperial brick tiles are suitable for interior and exterior decoration work.

+ Does not fade

Ceramic tiles do not change their color under any circumstances. They are not afraid of any environment, regardless of what the temperature is outside and how often temperature changes occur.

+ High wear resistance

Due to its composition, ceramic-based products are not susceptible to destructive effects of aggressive environments. Brick tiles are not "afraid" of chemical cleaners on completely different acidic and alkaline bases.

+ Large selection of historical stamps

We have for sale more than 700 types of different bricks with royal seals from various Peter the Great factories.

+ Price

Thanks to the raw materials from which we saw it, the cost of the tiles is lower than European antique analogues.

+ Diverse texture, no repetition of elements

Each tile has its own shade, pattern, character. You will not find a single identical tile for one square meter according to the above parameters.

+ Different types of elements

Our brick effect tiles have all the elements: stretcher, header, corner.

+ Composition

Absolutely natural composition. The brick was produced without the use of chemical additives, plasticizers, etc. The color of the brick was formed as a result of firing. Each brick is more than 100 years old. It has a huge margin of safety. Which will outlive us.

+ Natural color

All the flowers of the ancient brick tiles were made by baking the "raw" brick (unfired brick). Depending on the degree of firing, the color can be light or dark, crimson or slightly yellowish. No bright colors, only a natural palette of various shades.

+ For internal and external cladding

Naturally aged tiles will look good on the facade and in the apartment. They "feel" great in outdoor conditions.

Important questions before purchasing

Before buying antique (old) bricks from the 18th-19th century or tiles, we would like to introduce you to some important points. Here we have written down some information that can answer some of your questions.

We would like to note a very important fact on the antique brick market, a brick from the South of our country has appeared, this brick has several important points, such a brick is made of clay, which has poor performance, and the production technology was often not observed due to the scorching sun and 45C heat, which led to a large degree of overdrying of the raw material (the brick is not fired), which actually indicates weak indicators for frost resistance and strength, and due to the long distance during transportation to the central part of our country, there is a high risk that a lot of cracked in half bricks or tiles will arrive. In pursuit of profit, some sellers hide this point or indicate incorrect parameters.
